Live and remote broadcasting into the public’s living rooms is more in demand than ever during the pandemic. In terms of production, the demand for higher quality and available technical capacity is also increasing. VIDI GmbH, an exhibitor at SportsInnovation, has managed to prove that they can exceed these expectations during the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf.
This Darmstadt-based video specialist laid 32 transmission cables, 8 return cables, 1 MADI cable and various data cables for fibre-optic terrestrial broadcasting “with low latency, high bandwidth, return cables and excellent technical performance”, according to Bernd Meinl, Sales Director at VIDI. Along with the growing importance of remote productions, the current trend is to go for even more bandwidth in the 10 gbps range, and also to provide more on-site support. In order to assure this, VIDI sent staff, technology and even one of its own production trucks to Oberstdorf – all in accordance with the current hygiene and safety provisions, naturally.
